Awesome Stay at Nail Bay!
September 9th, 2008Visiting Virgin Gorda for the first time in March ‘08, my wife and I decided to stay at Nail Bay Resort for a 10-day stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better Caribbean vacation. First, VG is one of the most welcoming, beautiful and friendliest of the Virgin Islands that we have visited over our 15 years of Caribbean island hopping. Her beaches are gorgeous and during our spring time visit, mostly deserted. Check out Pond Bay Beach!
So our stay at Nail Bay was fabulous! We stayed in one of the townhouse style apartments (Sun King) that was a perfect fit for the two of us. Exceptionally clean and very well equipped. I really enjoy cooking and this kitchen was amply supplied with high quality cooking utensils, pots, pans and most importanty sharp knives! It was a real treat mixing Painkillers in the blender and settling in for a wonderful meal on the deck overlooking Sir Francis Drake Channel and Tortola. Having a washer and dryer in the unit allowed us to pack the minimal amount of clothing and utilizing just a carry-on, which is so much easier and less expensive with the airlines. Pack light and casual! Speaking of eating, the Sugarcane Restaurant, located right at the resort is splendid! The food, service and atmosphere all make for a pleasant dining experience and the prices are comparable with the other restaurants on the islands. Kasha at the front desk at Nail Bay is extremely accommodating and friendly, as was all of the NB staff that we dealt with. The housekeeper was efficient, friendly and was never a hinderance as she timed her housekeeping duties with our departure for the beach each morning. The beaches at NB are equally nice, safe and great for snorkeling. Can you tell that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay? We did so much that we are returning in Feb ‘09 for another visit, staying in the same apartment. What we like about Nail Bay is the laid-back, friendly atmosphere and the clean, secure grounds and accommodations. Nail Bay is not one of those mega-resorts found on your typical ‘tourist islands’ and you will not find all of the pomp and circumstance associated with those resorts. That’s why Nail Bay is our place to stay for a quiet, romantic and restful vacation!
